DPMS Panther Arms Kitty Kat S9 9mm 8" 33rd Pistol

DPMS brought back the Kitty Kat name for a short AR pistol, and the S9 version runs 9mm through an 8 inch heavy barrel. It is a pistol caliber AR with a quad rail handguard, a Picatinny topped aluminum receiver and a 33 round magazine, which puts it in the same conversation as a Scorpion or an MP5 clone but with AR controls and an AR trigger.

The short barrel keeps overall length down enough to matter in a vehicle or a hallway, and 9mm out of an 8 inch barrel stays manageable indoors compared to a 5.56 pistol, which is most of the reason people buy pistol caliber guns in the first place. The barrel is threaded, so a suppressor or a muzzle device goes on directly, and 9mm is one of the easier hosts to suppress well. The quad rail gives four sides of mounting space for a light and a hand stop. The receiver's top rail is open for a red dot, which is the sensible optic for a gun this size. The brace and the familiar AR fire controls mean anyone who has run a carbine already knows how to work it.
