Zastava Arms ZPAP M72 RPK 7.62x39mm 21" 30rd Bipod Rifle

The M72 is Zastava's light machine gun, an RPK pattern rifle based on the M70, and the ZPAP M72 brings it to the US market in semi auto form. It carries everything that makes an RPK look the part: a 21" chrome lined barrel with cooling fins, a detachable bipod, RPK style rear sights and classic wood furniture. The receiver is the 1.5mm type with a bulged front trunnion, which is what Zastava rifles are known for.

The barrel is cold hammer forged with a 1:9.5 twist in 7.62x39mm, and the extra length over a standard AK adds sight radius and a little velocity. The added weight, 11 lbs, soaks up recoil and keeps the rifle steady on the bipod for slow fire off a bench or prone. The safety selector has a bolt hold open notch, and one 30 round PMAG is included. Overall length is 41". Collectors who want an RPK clone that runs like a Zastava, and shooters who simply like a heavy, planted AK, both end up here.
