About the Maxim Defense MD9 905
The MD9 is Maxim Defense's AR9, and the 905 CQB sits at the compact end of the line. The 5.5" barrel is free floated inside a handguard that takes both M-Rax and M-Slot accessories and clamps to the upper tightly enough to behave like a monolithic top rail, so a light and an optic stay zeroed to each other. The Hatebrake muzzle device pushes blast and flash forward and away, which matters more on a barrel this short than most people expect. The receiver set is aluminum with a full length Picatinny rail.
Controls are what a duty audience asks for: ambidextrous magazine release, last round bolt hold open, ambidextrous sling mounts, and a Radian charging handle. It feeds from Glock pattern 9mm magazines in G19 length and longer, so spares are cheap and available everywhere, and there is no proprietary magazine to chase. The Maxim CQB brace collapses tight enough for a discreet bag and extends far enough for a real cheek weld. Behind the muzzle device the barrel is threaded 1/2-28, which is where most of these end up with a can on the front.
