Colt Python Shooter's Model 357 Mag 2.5" 6rd Revolver

Colt's Shooter's Model program covers guns that leave the factory new in the box with one minor finish imperfection somewhere on the surface. The blemish is usually invisible without good light and a trained eye, and the tradeoff is that Colt's one year warranty does not cover that flaw. Mechanically it is the same Python that has been the benchmark for double action revolvers since 1955.

This one runs a 2.5" barrel in 357 Magnum with the Python's ventilated top rib and full length ejector rod underlug, which puts weight where it belongs on a short revolver and keeps the muzzle from jumping. The frame is carbon steel with a blued finish. Colt added roughly thirty percent more steel beneath the rear sight on the current generation, which answered the one real durability complaint about the older guns and gave the adjustable rear sight a far more solid platform. The double action trigger is the reason people buy Pythons, and this one has it. Custom panel grips keep the footprint small enough to carry while still giving the hand something to hold onto. Six rounds of 357 Magnum, or 38 Special when it is time to practice, in a revolver that will outlast whoever buys it.
