Century Arms VSKA 7.62x39mm 16.5" 30rd Magpul MOE Rifle

The VSKA is Century's own AK build, put together on their own tooling rather than assembled out of a parts kit. It runs the long stroke gas piston that made the pattern famous, which is the reason these rifles keep working when they are dirty, wet or full of sand. Controls are pure Kalashnikov: the safety lever on the right side of the receiver, the charging handle riding on the bolt carrier, and a magazine that rocks in front to back.

Magpul MOE furniture replaces the wood, so the stock, pistol grip and handguard all come out of one system and all take the same hardware. The handguard carries M-LOK slots for a light or a sling mount, which is the one thing a plain AK never gave anyone an easy way to do. The barrel measures 16.5" and the rifle feeds from a 30rd magazine. Ammunition is the other half of why rifles like this get shot: 7.62x39mm is one of the easiest centerfire rounds to keep on a shelf in quantity, so the gun ends up at the range instead of in the safe.
