Weatherby Model 307 MZY 45 Cal 26" Muzzleloader

Weatherby's first production muzzleloader takes the Model 307 bolt action and puts a front loading barrel on it, so the gun handles, feeds primers and breaks down like a modern centerfire rather than a traditional smoke pole. Arrowhead Precision handled the muzzleloading end of the design. The Arrowhead Gen2 ignition uses sealed primer modules built around a large rifle primer, which is the fix for the weak, weather sensitive ignition that has dogged 209 guns for years.

The 26" barrel wears a 2" muzzle brake, and the whole rifle runs around 7 lbs, light enough to carry through a long season. The stock is carbon fiber in black. Weatherby recommends the 280gr Hornady Bore Driver behind the .45 bore. Quick loaders from Cedar Mountain, 20 unprimed modules, a collapsible ramrod and the breech plug come in the box, so the only thing left to buy is powder, primers and projectiles. Bolt action muzzleloaders shoot best when the load is worked up carefully, and this one gives you a platform stable enough to see the difference.
