Browning X-Bolt 2 Hunter Grade II 6.5 CM 22" 4rd Rifle

6.5 Creedmoor earned its place by being efficient rather than exciting. Long, slippery bullets at moderate velocity mean less recoil, less barrel wear and better wind performance than the older cartridges it pushed out of a lot of gun safes, and factory match ammunition is easy to come by. In the X-Bolt 2 Hunter Grade II it sits in a rifle with a checkered walnut stock and a blued barrel, which is a better looking home for it than the usual black synthetic.

The Grade II walnut is satin finished, and the 22" sporter contour barrel keeps the rifle balanced between the hands instead of hanging muzzle heavy. The receiver and the bolt were redrawn for the second generation gun. The muzzle is threaded with a radial brake fitted, so the same rifle can run suppressed for practice and braked in the field. The X-Lock scope mounting system puts four screws in each base, which is worth having on a rifle that gets shot at distance and has to hold zero through a season of travel. The magazine holds four rounds, the action is right hand, and the receiver comes drilled and tapped from the factory. For a hunter who shoots past 300 yards and does not want to get beaten up in practice, cartridge and rifle match up well here.
