Pietta GWII Californian 45 Colt 5.5" 6rd Revolver

The Californian is one of the most sought after models in Pietta's Great Western II line, and this one is chambered in 45 Colt with a 5.5" barrel and a six round cylinder. The barrel is hammer forged steel, and the frame is drop forged and then CNC machined. The frame wears a traditional color case hardened finish, the barrel and cylinder are blued, and the grips are walnut.

Pietta made a few practical changes for shooters. The rear sight notch is wider and the front blade is larger, so the sight picture comes together faster than on a typical old style single action. Inside, it stays period correct: just like the original Colts, the firing pin floats in the hammer instead of using a transfer bar. Cock the exposed hammer for each shot and the trigger releases it. The 5.5" barrel gives a bit more sight radius than the 4.75" guns, and 45 Colt is the cartridge the 1873 was made for. It is a classic looking single action that is ready for cowboy action matches or a day at the range.
