KelTec SU-22CA 22 LR 16.1" 26rd Rifle

The SU-22CA is KelTec's 22 LR rifle built on the bones of its 5.56 SU-16. It is a standalone rimfire firearm, not a conversion kit, and it shares the grip, sights, cross bolt safety and magazine release layout of its centerfire brother. That makes it a natural trainer for anyone who shoots an SU-16, and a simple, light rimfire for everyone else. It comes with a 26 round semi transparent magazine, so you can see at a glance how much is left.

The action is blowback, with a steel bolt riding on steel guide rails inside the polymer receiver. Up front, the 16.1 inch barrel is threaded 1/2-28 for a muzzle brake or rimfire suppressor. The rear sight adjusts for windage and the front for elevation, and an integrated Picatinny rail on top takes a scope or red dot. The fixed stock includes a storage compartment. At about 4 pounds, it is light enough for younger shooters to hold steady, and the recoil of 22 LR is close to nothing. It works well for plinking, small game and teaching the basics of safe gun handling before moving up to a centerfire rifle.
