Kaw Valley Precision 5/8-24 Thread Protector

A 5/8-24 thread protector for rifle barrels, machined from steel with a black finish. The inside diameter is bored out so the protector covers the threads without ever contacting the crown, which is the part of the muzzle that actually decides where the bullet goes.

Wrench flats are cut into the body, so it comes on and off with a wrench instead of finger pressure and optimism. A bare muzzle is a muzzle waiting to get dinged in a case or a truck bed, and chasing damaged threads is a gunsmith job with a gunsmith bill. This is the cheap piece of hardware that prevents that whole conversation.
