Howa M1500 Hogue 25 Creedmoor 24" 5rd Green Heavy Barrel Rifle

The Howa 1500 action has been one of the better buys in bolt guns for years: a machined receiver, a forged bolt, an M16 pattern extractor and ejector, and headspace held tighter than the class would suggest. This configuration drops that action into a Hogue pillar bedded overmolded stock in green, with the barrelled action floating free of the forend. Chambering is 25 Creedmoor, the necked down 6.5 Creedmoor case that pushes lighter quarter bore bullets fast and flat without much recoil to show for it.

The barrel is 24" and heavy profile, cold hammer forged, which is the combination you want for a rifle that will see a string of shots at paper or a long sit behind a bipod. The muzzle is threaded, so a brake or a suppressor goes on without a trip to a gunsmith. The trigger is Howa's HACT two stage unit and the safety is a three position lever that lets the bolt be cycled with the striker blocked. The receiver comes drilled and tapped, sling swivel studs are already fitted, and the rubber overmold on the Hogue stock gives a grip that does not go slick in the rain.
