Winchester XPR Thumbhole Varmint SR 270 Win 24" 3rd Rifle

The XPR Thumbhole Varmint SR is Winchester's XPR built for shooting off a bench, a bipod or offhand at long distance. The laminate thumbhole stock has a raised cheekpiece for a consistent cheek weld, and laminate stays stable in changing weather instead of warping. This one is chambered in 270 Win with a 24 inch free floating, button rifled heavy sporter barrel and a recessed target crown. The muzzle is threaded 5/8-24 and comes with a thread protector, so it is ready for a suppressor or a brake.

The M.O.A. Trigger System gives a crisp break with no take up or creep. A two position thumb safety sits by the firing hand, and the bolt unlock button lets you cycle a round out with the safety on. The bolt has three locking lugs and a short 60 degree lift for scope clearance, plus a nickel Teflon coating for smooth travel. The steel receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounts, and the rifle feeds from a detachable box magazine that holds three rounds. Two sling swivel studs on the vented forearm let you run a sling and a bipod at the same time. At about eight pounds it settles well for long shots on coyotes, pronghorn and deer.
