Springfield Armory 1911 Operator AOS 45 ACP 5" 8rd Aimpoint COA Pistol

Springfield's Operator has been the duty configuration of their 1911 line for years, and this version arrives with the optic question already answered. The slide is milled with Aimpoint's A-CUT interface and the COA red dot is mounted from the factory, which drops the sight down into the slide instead of perching it on a plate. That lower deck means less to snag, a stronger mounting surface, and iron sights that co-witness through the window rather than sitting somewhere below it.

Under the optic it is a full size 45 ACP built on a carbon steel frame with an integral Picatinny rail, a beavertail grip safety, and an ambidextrous thumb safety. The 5" match grade barrel and the pair of 8 round magazines that come with the gun are the classic 1911 formula in the cartridge the platform was built around. G10 grips and forward cocking serrations put texture where your hands actually go. Steel frame weight is the reason a 45 shoots as flat as it does here. This is a heavy pistol by modern standards and that is the whole point: recoil goes into mass instead of into your wrist, and the trigger is the short single action press that keeps shooters loyal to the design after more than a century.
