Henry's Brass Side Gate in 45-70 Government is the big bore end of their brass framed lever guns, and this one is a Wisconsin Tribute edition limited to 250 rifles. A polished hardened brass receiver sits against a 22" blued octagon barrel and American walnut furniture, which is about as traditional as a modern lever gun gets. Loading works both ways: the side gate lets you top off the magazine tube without breaking your hold, and the removable tube still lets you unload without cycling live rounds through the action.

Sights are the usual Henry arrangement, a fully adjustable semi buckhorn rear over a brass bead front, and the receiver is drilled and tapped if you would rather run glass. Capacity is four rounds. The 45-70 hits hard on both ends, so the weight of a brass receiver is welcome here; it settles the rifle down under heavy loads and makes the second shot faster than the recoil numbers suggest.
