Smith & Wesson 1854 America 250 45-70 Gov 20" Walnut Rifle

Smith & Wesson built the Model 1854 America 250 as a limited edition for the country's 250th birthday, and the treatment is where the money went: a laser engraved receiver, walnut stock and forend, and a gold bead front sight against the black Armornite finish on the stainless steel barrel and receiver. The 1854 is a lever action in 45-70 Gov, a cartridge that has been dropping heavy game at close range since the era the rifle's name points back to.

Underneath the commemorative details it is a working rifle. The lever loop is oversized, so it cycles with gloves on in cold weather, and the flat face trigger gives a consistent finger position shot to shot. A Picatinny rail sits on top of the receiver for an optic, which is the part the original lever guns never had, and the 20" barrel is threaded at the muzzle for a brake or a suppressor. Stainless under the finish means the rifle handles weather better than a blued gun of the same pattern.
