Daniel Defense DDM4 GL/SSC 5.56 NATO 12.5" Pistol

The GL/SSC is the configuration that helped build Daniel Defense's reputation and then stayed out of reach for most of its life. GL/SSC stands for Grenade Launcher / Sound Suppressor Capable, and the rail is the whole point: the free floating RIS II carries the integrated hanger system that lets M203 mounting hardware and suppressor accessories attach without workarounds. Very few civilians ever got hold of the original.

This one is a semi auto pistol in 5.56 NATO with a 12.5 inch cold hammer forged government profile barrel, chrome lined and heavy phosphate coated, running on a carbine length gas system. The muzzle is threaded 1/2-28. Cold hammer forging work hardens the bore as the rifling is formed, which is a large part of why cold hammer forged barrels hold up over a long service life, and the chrome lining handles the heat and the cleaning solvent that come with volume shooting. A Timney Axcess trigger replaces the standard mil spec unit, so the break is clean instead of gritty. The 12.5 inch barrel keeps the gun short without dropping so much velocity that 5.56 stops doing its job, and the rail hardware makes it an obvious host for a can.
