About the CVA Scout TD 450
Straight wall cartridge country is where this rifle earns its keep. The 450 Bushmaster pushes a heavy, large diameter bullet at sensible woods ranges, which is what a lot of Midwestern deer seasons now require, and a single shot break action is one of the cleanest ways to feed it. Work the release ahead of the trigger guard, the barrel drops open, load one, close it, cock the hammer. No magazine to load, no bolt to short stroke, nothing to jam at the wrong moment.
The Scout TD separates at the receiver, so a 22" rifle becomes two short pieces that fit a day pack or a truck box. Barrel and receiver are stainless steel under a Flat Dark Earth finish, and the synthetic stock wears a duck camo pattern. A Picatinny rail is fitted at the factory, which is how it should be on a break action with no iron sights to fall back on. The muzzle is threaded 11/16-24, the pitch CVA uses on its large bore barrels, so a brake or a suppressor threads on directly. At roughly 7.8 pounds it still carries well, and the extra mass is welcome once the recoil of a 450 shows up.
