CVA Scout Takedown 338 ARC 18" Stainless Rifle

The Scout TD breaks into two pieces without tools, which puts an 18" rifle into a pack that fits behind a truck seat or in a bush plane. It is a single shot break action, so there is no magazine, no bolt to cycle and very little to go wrong in cold or wet weather. The stainless barrel and receiver hold up better than blued steel when the gun stays out in the rain, and the black synthetic stock takes abuse without complaint.

Chambered in 338 ARC, the rifle covers ground most single shots cannot. The cartridge runs supersonic loads with the terminal performance hunters expect from a 30 caliber deer round, and it drops to heavy subsonic bullets behind a suppressor, which is why the muzzle comes threaded 5/8-24. A DuraSight rail is already mounted on the receiver, so a scope or a red dot goes on without buying a base. The takedown joint returns to zero well enough for hunting distances, and the whole package is light enough to carry all day on a shoulder. One careful shot is how these rifles get used, and the lockup and trigger are built around that.
