Tisas 1911 Aviator 9mm 4.25" Pistol

Tisas builds the Aviator on the Commander pattern: a 4.25" barrel and a shortened slide on a 1911 frame, which trims weight and length off the muzzle end without giving up any grip. Chambered in 9mm, it is a mild shooting 1911. There is not much recoil to begin with, and the single action trigger breaks straight back with almost no travel, which is the reason shooters keep coming back to this design more than a century after John Browning drew it.

Controls sit where a 1911 shooter expects them. Thumb safety on the left, grip safety at the web of the hand, slide stop above the trigger, magazine release under the thumb. The manual of arms has not changed since 1911, so anyone who has run a Government model will pick this one up cold and know exactly what to do with it. Tisas has built a following turning out tightly fitted 1911s, and the Aviator wears a black finish over the whole gun. It works as a range pistol, a nightstand gun, or a first 1911 for a shooter who wants to learn the platform before spending custom money on one.
