About this product
Taylor's 1892 rifle is built by Chiappa and chambered in 45 Colt, with a 24" octagon barrel and a 12 round tubular magazine. The frame is color case hardened, the barrel and parts are blued, and the stock and forend are walnut with an oil finish. Sights are a buckhorn rear and blade front. It weighs 7.3 lbs and measures 42.13" overall.
The 1892 action was John Browning's scaled down take on the big 1886, sized for pistol cartridges and known for a short, slick lever throw and strong vertical locking lugs. It is a favorite for cowboy action shooters who want speed, and for anyone who wants a handy rifle that shares ammunition with a 45 Colt single action revolver. The long 24" octagon barrel adds weight out front, which settles the muzzle for offhand shots and soaks up some of the recoil from heavier 45 Colt loads. A full 12 round magazine means fewer reloads on the clock. The case hardened frame and oiled walnut give it the look of a period rifle, while modern steel and machining keep it ready for regular range use.
