Taurus 856 Ultra-Lite 38 Spl 2" 6rd Blue Raspberry Revolver

Taurus built the 856 Ultra-Lite for people who carry a revolver every day and would rather not feel it doing so. The frame is aluminum, the barrel and cylinder are matte stainless, and the barrel runs 2 inches. This one wears a Blue Raspberry finish on the frame, a long way from the matte black and stainless that small frame carry guns usually come in. The cylinder holds six rounds of 38 Special, one more than most snub nose revolvers this size, and the gun is rated for +P loads.

Controls are simple. Double and single action operation, a serrated ramp front sight paired with a fixed rear notch, and soft rubber grips that spread recoil across the palm instead of concentrating it in the web of the hand. A transfer bar safety sits between the hammer and the firing pin, so the gun fires only when the trigger is pulled all the way through. There is no magazine to seat, no slide to rack, and no manual safety to forget under stress, which is a large part of why small frame revolvers still ride in pockets and purses decades after polymer pistols took over the counter.
