Springfield Armory Hellion 5.56 NATO 18" 30rd Bullpup Rifle

The Hellion is Springfield's 5.56 bullpup, and this version runs the longer 18" barrel for extra velocity while keeping the overall length short. Putting the action behind the trigger is what makes that possible: you get rifle length ballistics in a package shorter than most carbines. The barrel is CMV steel with a Melonite finish, and it wears a four prong flash hider. A two position adjustable short stroke gas piston has a setting for running suppressed.

The Hellion is built to work for either hand. Controls are ambidextrous, the charging handle is ambidextrous and non reciprocating, and the case ejection can be reversed for left handed shooters. Integrated flip-up sights pop up from the top rail, with an elevation adjustable front and a 5 position aperture rear, and there is plenty of Picatinny rail for an optic. The polymer M-LOK handguard has room for lights and grips, the stock adjusts through 5 positions with a cheek riser, and it takes standard AR-15 pistol grips, with a BCM Gunfighter Mod 3 installed. It feeds from AR-15 pattern magazines and comes with one 30 round Magpul PMAG Gen M3. Weight is about 8.2 lbs.
