The Model 617 is Smith & Wesson's stainless 22 LR K-frame, and it is about as good as a rimfire revolver gets for target work and teaching new shooters. This version has a 6" full lug barrel and a 10 shot cylinder, all in satin stainless steel with a black rubber grip. It weighs about 44 oz, which is a lot of steel for a 22, and that weight is exactly why it hangs so steady on target.

It runs double action or single action. Cock the target hammer and the smooth target trigger breaks clean for slow fire; pull through double action for practice that carries over to a centerfire revolver. Sights are a pinned Patridge front over an adjustable rear. Ten rounds per cylinder means less time reloading and more time shooting. This SKU is listed as California compliant and has the internal lock.
