Sig Sauer P320 Compact 9mm 15rd Manual Safety Pistol

The P320 is Sig's modular striker fired platform, the one that won the US Military's Modular Handgun System contract and became the M17 and M18. The serialized component is the fire control unit inside the gun, which means the grip module, the slide and the barrel are all parts rather than the firearm itself. This is the Compact configuration in 9mm, running a 15 round magazine, and it is the variant fitted with an external manual safety for shooters, agencies and ranges that require one.

Nitron is Sig's slide treatment and it takes holster wear without complaint. The striker trigger is consistent from shot to shot with a short reset, which is a large part of why the platform moved into so many duty holsters so quickly after release. The modularity is the long term argument for buying one: because the fire control unit lifts out and drops into another grip module, a Compact bought now can become a carry gun or a full size gun later without acquiring a second serialized firearm. Fifteen rounds on a compact frame keeps it useful for home defense and duty work, and the safety equipped version is the one to look for when an external safety is a requirement.
