Savage Axis XP 20" 4rd 3-9x40 Scope Rifle

The Savage Axis XP is the scoped package version of the Axis, and it comes with a 3-9x40 riflescope already mounted and boresighted at the factory. It is a bolt action feeding from a detachable 4 round magazine. The 20" barrel is button rifled with a heavy sporter contour and threaded 1/2-28 at the muzzle, sitting in a black synthetic stock under a matte black receiver.

Savage builds the Axis around thread-in headspacing, where the barrel is set against a gauge and locked with a barrel nut rather than hand fitted, which is how the line holds its consistency from rifle to rifle. The redesigned Axis XP reworked the ergonomics of the earlier rifles, including a reshaped bolt handle that gives more purchase for cycling with cold hands or gloves on. The threaded muzzle takes a brake or a suppressor directly. With glass already in the rings and a magazine in the well, this is a rifle that can go from the box to a bench with nothing more than a box of ammunition and an afternoon to confirm zero.
