The Ruger American Gen II Ranch takes a proven bolt gun and tightens up the details. The 16.1" barrel is spiral fluted to shed weight, wears a cobalt Cerakote finish, and comes threaded 5/8-24 with a factory muzzle brake already installed. At 6.3 lbs it carries like a rifle meant for walking, and the 243 Win chambering splits the difference between varmint work and deer sized game with recoil most shooters barely notice.
The stock is where Gen II shows its homework. A splatter finish in flat dark earth gives grip without the sandpaper feel of aggressive texturing, length of pull adjusts from 12" to 13.75" by pulling a spacer, and a removable low comb lets you set cheek weld for either scope rings or low mounted sights. Feeding comes from a three round AI style magazine, and a Picatinny rail sits on the receiver already, so mounting glass takes rings and nothing else. The Marksman adjustable trigger breaks where you set it, and Ruger's Power Bedding block locates the receiver the same way every time the action goes back into the stock.
