About the Rock Island Armory Pak
The Pak Out is Rock Island Armory's folding 12 gauge pump, and the Long model carries the full 18.5" barrel. Unfolded the gun runs 37.25" and handles like any other pump. Fold it and the footprint drops enough to fit places a standard shotgun will not go, which is the entire point of the design. Weight sits at 6.7 pounds, light enough to keep in a truck, a pack, or a boat without thinking much about it. Grips are fixed polymer rather than wood, so weather is not a concern.
The action is a spring assisted pump, which takes some of the work out of the rearward stroke. It chambers up to 3" shells and holds 4 in the tube. Sights are simple: a blade with a silver rod up front and a notch cut into the takedown at the rear. The finish is anodized. This is a utility shotgun first, built for storage, transport, and close work rather than the trap field, and the folding design is what separates it from every other 18.5" pump on the rack.
