Howa's Mini action is a genuinely short receiver rather than a standard action with a spacer in the magazine well, and that is the whole argument for the Mini Fence Line. Bolt travel is shorter, the receiver is lighter, and a 223 Remington sits in a housing sized for it. The 20" barrel is a sensible length for the cartridge, keeping velocity up without turning the rifle into something awkward to shoot from a truck window or a fence post.

The Fence Line name says what the rifle is for: coyotes, prairie dogs and whatever else needs shooting at moderate range while a rancher is already out working.
