About the HK VP9A1 L 9mm
The VP9A1 L is the long slide model in HK's VP9A1 lineup, which also holds the compact VP9K, the crossover VP9X and the full size VP9F. The 5" steel barrel and lengthened slide put more weight out front, and lightening cuts machined into the slide keep that extra length from making the gun feel nose heavy. The A1 revisions were aimed at the connection between a serious user and the pistol, reworking the trigger, the grip frame and the controls rather than chasing new features.
A Vortex Defender ST red dot comes with the pistol on an optic cut slide, so the sighting system is settled before the gun leaves the case. The polymer frame carries a Picatinny rail under the dust cover for a light. Interchangeable backstraps size the grip to the hand, and the controls run ambidextrous for left hand shooters. Two 15rd magazines are included. HK points this one at shooters chasing qualification scores and match times, and the longer slide is the part doing that work.
