About the DPMS DP-15 Shortacle 5.56
The Shortacle is DPMS's take on a compact 5.56 AR pistol: a 10.5 inch nitride barrel, a slick side forged upper and a lightweight M-LOK handguard that runs out over most of the barrel. Ten and a half inches is the sweet spot for a short 5.56, keeping the gun genuinely handy while still cycling reliably and holding useful velocity out to a hundred yards or so.
The lower is forged aluminum with an A2 pistol grip and DPMS's adjustable CAR pattern blade brace, which collapses for storage and extends for a stable hold. The muzzle is threaded 1/2-28 with an A2 style flash hider installed, so a suppressor or a different muzzle device swaps on directly. M-LOK slots along the handguard take lights, hand stops and sling mounts without adapters. One 30 round magazine is included. Because it is a standard AR-15 pattern gun, every trigger, grip, buffer and charging handle in the aftermarket fits, which makes this an easy platform to build on over time rather than a dead end. It is a lot of gun for the size, and it points fast in a hallway or out a truck window.
