CZ 457 Varmint MTR 22 LR 20.5" 5rd Rifle

The CZ 457 Varmint MTR (Match Target Rifle) is the heavy barrel 457 given extra attention for serious rimfire accuracy. The match chamber is cut to the tightest dimension CIP allows, so it rewards good ammunition, and the 20.5" cold hammer forged barrel has a 1:16" twist. It feeds from a 5 round detachable polymer magazine.

The Turkish walnut stock is shaped for target work. The vertical grip has a palm swell and laser stippling, and the wide, flat forend has wraparound stippling plus dual QD studs for a bipod and a sling. The 457 action itself brought several upgrades over the 455: a receiver mounted push to fire safety, an action almost an inch shorter and slab sided to cut weight, two piece interlocking bottom metal, and a 60 degree bolt lift that clears larger scope eyepieces with lower rings. The trigger adjusts for weight, creep, and over travel. There are no iron sights; an 11mm dovetail on the receiver takes your scope mounts. At about 7 lbs it is steady on the bench and in rimfire precision matches, and it still carries fine for squirrels.
