About the Colt Kodiak 44 Mag
The Colt Kodiak is a stainless 44 Magnum revolver with an eight inch ported vent rib barrel, built for hunters and for anyone who carries a sidearm where the wildlife outweighs them. Eight inches of barrel and an unfluted cylinder put real mass in the gun, and mass is the simplest recoil reduction there is in a stout 44 Magnum. The porting works on the muzzle rise that mass alone does not fix.
The frame is stainless steel and the cylinder holds six. Hogue overmolded rubber grips fill the hand and take the sting out of heavy loads, which matters when a shooter is sighting in a hunting revolver with fifty rounds of full house ammunition to get through. The barrel carries a ventilated rib and the hammer is exposed. This is a big game revolver and a trail gun, and the 8 inch barrel is the configuration that leans hardest toward the first of those two jobs.
