Colt Gold Cup Trophy 9mm 5" Stainless Pistol

A 9mm Gold Cup is a different animal than the 45. Same 5 inch National Match barrel, same steel frame, but a fraction of the recoil, which makes it a cheap and pleasant way to shoot a lot of rounds in a serious 1911. The slide is cut for optics from the factory with a Colt standard plate and a G-Style serrated rear sight already installed, so mounting a reflex sight is a matter of picking the right plate rather than sending the gun out.

Colt kept the details competition shooters ask for. There is 25 LPI checkering on the front strap and mainspring housing, a beveled magazine well, an undercut trigger guard and an upswept beavertail that lets the hand ride high. The grips are the competition blue G10 with a scalloped texture, and up front is a Novak fiber optic sitting over the brushed stainless slide. The single action trigger is the reason people put up with the 1911 platform in the first place, and in 9mm the sights barely move between shots. At 40 ounces of steel it is heavy for carry and ideal for a range bag or a match.
