Colt 1911 CCU Government 9mm 5" Pistol

The 9mm version of Colt's Combat Unit Government trades the 45 for a softer shooting cartridge in the same steel Government frame. Colt developed the Combat Unit line with input from U.S. Special Operations trainers, and this configuration carries a factory optic cut on the slide. The 5 inch barrel is stainless and National Match cut. Slide and frame are forged steel, with matte black DLC on the slide and black Ion Bond on the frame.

Nine millimeter in a full size steel 1911 is close to recoilless, which is the whole point for anyone running a timer or a long training day. Colt keeps the rest of the gun as it is on the 45: Novak sights in the dovetails, an ambidextrous extended thumb safety, a beavertail grip safety, grey G10 panels and an extended magwell in the frame. The slide is serrated and cut for a red dot using Colt mounting plates, so a modern optic goes on without a machinist getting involved. Series 80 internals sit underneath. It handles like the 45 and shoots like a range gun, which is a combination that suits a lot of shooters better than the original chambering does.
