Cimarron 1886 45-70 Govt 26" 8rd Case Hardened Octagon Rifle

John Browning patented the 1886 design and Winchester built it into the big game repeater of its day, strong enough for heavy cartridges and carried as far as Africa. Theodore Roosevelt counted it among his favorites, and originals in good condition still bring a premium from hunters and collectors. Cimarron's Model 1886 rifle recreates that action in 45-70 Government.

The 26" octagon barrel carries an 8 round tube magazine beneath it. The frame is case hardened and the barrel blued, set off by a walnut stock and forearm with a crescent steel buttplate the way the originals were built. Sights are a blade front and a semi buckhorn rear. Overall length is 45" and weight is about 9 lbs, which settles the rifle on target and takes the edge off stout 45-70 loads. It earns its place in a lever gun collection and works as a hunting rifle for elk, black bear or hogs at woods ranges with iron sights. Hunters who grew up on the 45-70 will appreciate a full length 1886 that looks the part and carries enough cartridges for a second and third shot.
