About the Charter Arms Boomer 9mm
Charter Arms builds the Boomer as a hammerless snub for carry, and this version wears a stainless finish rather than black. In 9mm with a 5rd cylinder behind a 2" barrel, it is about as small as a centerfire revolver gets while still shooting a service cartridge. The barrel is tapered and double ported, so the gas that would otherwise shove the muzzle skyward gets vented up and out before it has the chance.
Charter's design choices here are all about the draw. The hammer sits concealed inside the frame, and instead of a blade front and a notch rear, the topstrap carries a trench that serves as the sighting plane. Nothing protrudes, so the gun clears a pocket holster clean every single time. The frame is stainless steel and the compact rubber grip fills the hand without adding width that would print through a shirt. It weighs 24 oz, enough mass to keep 9mm civil in a gun this small. The trigger runs double action only. For a backup gun, an ankle gun, or the one that lives in a coat pocket all winter, that combination is why snub nose revolvers are still around long after semi autos took over the rest of the market.
