Auto-Ordnance 1911A1 GI Spec 9mm 5" 9rd Pistol

The Auto-Ordnance 1911A1 GI Spec in 9mm keeps the look of the government issue 1911 and swaps in the softer shooting 9mm cartridge. It is a full size pistol with a 5" barrel, a carbon steel frame and slide, and a matte black finish on the frame, slide and barrel. The slide, sear and disconnector are machined from solid bar stock and heat treated.

Sights are low profile GI style: a blade front with a rear that drifts for windage. The checkered wood grips carry the U.S. logo. Safeties are the 1911 thumb safety and grip safety, plus a firing pin block. It weighs about 39 oz and comes with one 9 round magazine. In 9mm, a steel 1911 this size barely moves under recoil, which makes it an easy gun for new shooters to learn the single action trigger and manual safety on. The serrated slide gives a good bite when racking. If you like the GI look but would rather shoot 9mm than 45, this is a straightforward way to get both.
