Weatherby Vanguard Sporter 257 Wby Mag 24" 3rd Rifle

The Vanguard Sporter is Weatherby's nod to its classic walnut rifles, built on the Vanguard action. This one is chambered in 257 Weatherby Magnum, a flat shooting quarter bore magnum for deer and pronghorn at long range, and holds 3 rounds under a hinged floorplate. Like every Vanguard, it is guaranteed to shoot a 3 shot group of .99" or less at 100 yards with specified Weatherby factory or premium ammunition.

The 24" #2 contour barrel is threaded 1/2-28 behind a target crown, has a 1:10" twist and wears a matte bead blasted blued finish to match the receiver and trigger guard. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounts. The stock is satin finished A grade walnut with a raised comb Monte Carlo profile, checkering and a rosewood forend cap, plus a recoil pad and swivel studs. A match quality two stage trigger adjusts down to about 2.5 lbs, and the safety is three position. Weight is about 7.5 lbs, overall length 44.5" and length of pull 13.625". It is a right hand rifle. For a hunter who wants Weatherby speed in a traditional wood and blued package, this is a good place to start.
