Weatherby Mark V Carbon Compact 6.5 Creedmoor 22" Rifle

Weatherby's 6-Lug Standard Action is the lighter of the Mark V actions, and it is the right one for a rifle called Carbon Compact. Around it goes a length of pull shortened for smaller framed shooters and a hand laid fiberglass stock with a raised Monte Carlo comb, black with brown, green and white sponge accents, shaped so recoil travels away from the face instead of into it.

Out front is a 22 inch BSF carbon barrel and the Accubrake DST, Weatherby's directional self timing brake. The receiver and trigger guard are OD Green, the bolt, bolt knob and safety graphite black. 6.5 Creedmoor is the obvious pairing for a rifle built around comfort and fit: mild recoil, factory match ammunition on every shelf, and bullets that hold their line in wind well past where most hunting shots are taken. It is honest on deer sized game and pleasant enough that practice happens rather than getting postponed, which is the part that actually improves hit rates in the field.
