Weatherby Mark V Carbon Compact 240 Wby Mag 22" Rifle

Weatherby caps the Mark V Carbon Compact with the Accubrake DST, a directional self timing brake that threads up in the right orientation without shims or timing washers. On a light rifle in a Weatherby chambering, that brake is not a luxury. Behind it sits a 22 inch BSF carbon barrel and the lighter 6-Lug Standard Action, with a length of pull shortened for smaller framed shooters.

240 Weatherby Magnum has always been an odd and excellent cartridge: a 6mm bore pushed to speeds nothing else in its class reaches, which keeps it shooting flat well past where most hunters are willing to hold. On deer, antelope and open country varmints it arrives with authority and very little drop to think about. The stock is hand laid fiberglass with a raised Monte Carlo comb, black with brown, green and white sponge accents, and the comb geometry keeps the recoil impulse off the cheek. Receiver and trigger guard are finished OD Green with the bolt, bolt knob and safety in graphite black, which is a quieter look than the polished blue Weatherby used to be known for.
