Weatherby Mark V Capra 240 Wby Mag 21" 2rd Rifle

The Backcountry Capra is Weatherby's answer to the weight problem every mountain hunter runs into eventually. The Mark V six lug short action is machined from titanium, which is where most of the savings come from, and the thin contour barrel is cut with double spiral fluting that forms a double helix. That pattern removes metal while keeping the barrel stiff, and Weatherby holds it to sub MOA accuracy. A modified Peak 44 Blacktooth stock trims more ounces without giving up a usable cheek weld or the recoil control a magnum needs.

This one is chambered in 240 Weatherby Magnum, one of the proprietary cartridges Weatherby developed for the Mark V. It runs a 21 inch barrel threaded 1/2-28 with a two inch muzzle brake fitted, and it holds two rounds. The receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope mount, and the barrel wears a graphite black Cerakote finish. This is a rifle built to be carried a long way and shot a few times, which is exactly what backcountry hunting asks of a gun.
