Weatherby Mark V Backcountry Capra 270 Win 21" 2rd Rifle

The Backcountry Capra is Weatherby's mountain rifle taken about as far as the Mark V goes. The six lug Mark V short action is machined from titanium instead of steel, which is how Weatherby got it down to one of the lightest production rifles the company has offered, and it sits drilled and tapped in a modified Peak 44 Blacktooth stock. The stock is exposed carbon with grey, white and rust sponge accents.

The 21 inch barrel is a thin contour cut with double spiral fluting that forms a double helix. Weatherby uses the fluting to take weight out while adding rigidity back, and holds the rifle to a sub MOA accuracy standard. The barrel is finished in graphite black Cerakote, threaded 1/2-28 and wears a two inch muzzle brake. Magazine capacity is 2 rounds in 270 Win. This is a rifle built around the walk rather than the bench. Everything that could be made out of titanium or carbon has been, the brake is on the front because a rifle this light in a full size hunting cartridge wants one, and the Blacktooth stock is there to keep the ergonomics and the recoil control Weatherby did not want to trade away for ounces.
