Walther P22Q 22 LR 10rd Silver Pistol

The P22Q is Walther's compact rimfire pistol, chambered in 22 Long Rifle and fed by a 10 round magazine. This version is finished in silver rather than the usual black. It is a small gun by any measure, and that is the point - a rimfire this size gets thrown in a range bag and shot far more often than a heavier target pistol that requires planning to bring along.

Rimfire pistols do the unglamorous work in shooting. Trigger press, grip pressure, sight alignment and follow through are identical skills regardless of what the gun is chambered for, and 22 LR lets a shooter drill those fundamentals for a full afternoon without the recoil fatigue or the ammunition cost of a centerfire gun. New shooters especially benefit, because there is almost no muzzle blast and no recoil to flinch away from, so bad habits never get a chance to form. The P22Q also works as a small game gun and a camp pistol, roles where 10 rounds of 22 is plenty. The double action / single action trigger gives a long first press followed by short, lighter presses afterward, which is a useful thing to learn on a gun that will not punish mistakes.
