Thompson Center Encore ProHunter XT 50 Cal 28" Stainless Muzzleloader

The Encore ProHunter XT is a break open single shot, and that frame is the reason people buy one. When muzzleloader season closes, a centerfire rifle or shotgun barrel goes on the same receiver and the gun keeps working through the rest of the year. In muzzleloading trim it is a 50 cal with a 28" stainless barrel and a stainless receiver, wearing a Mossy Oak Bottomland synthetic stock.

Loading is where the XT features show up. The Quick Load Accurizor uses a false muzzle with a counterbored crown, so a saboted bullet starts straight and seats without shaving. The Speed Breech XT plug comes out by hand with a 90 degree turn, which matters after a wet day when a threaded plug would be seized. The Power Rod is solid aluminum with a pivoting T handle that gives you something real to push against. Ignition runs a 209 primer or a FireStick charge. The barrel is drilled and tapped for scope mounts or open sights.
