Springfield Armory 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm 4.25" 18rd Aimpoint COA Pistol

The 1911 DS Prodigy is Springfield's double stack take on the 1911, and this version arrives with the optic question already answered. The slide is cut with Aimpoint's A-CUT interface and the COA red dot sits down inside the slide rather than on top of it, so the sight is lower, better protected and adds no height to the holster. It comes mounted from the factory with a 3.5 MOA dot, and the iron sights underneath stay usable.

Everything below the optic is why people buy a Prodigy. The frame is forged carbon steel with a polymer grip module bolted to it, which is what makes a double stack magazine possible without a grip the size of a fence post. The 4.25" barrel is forged stainless, match grade and bull profile, and a two piece full length guide rod keeps the recoil impulse consistent shot to shot. An ambidextrous thumb safety and a Picatinny rail come standard, the beavertail lets the hand sit high on the frame, and the whole pistol runs about 32.5 ounces.
