Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 38 2.0 38 Spl 1.875" 5rd Crimson Trace Laser Revolver

The Bodyguard 38 2.0 is a small frame carry revolver with a laser built into it rather than clamped onto it. The Crimson Trace unit lives in the frame ahead of the cylinder, so it adds nothing to the gun's width and gives a draw stroke nothing extra to snag on. Everything else about the revolver points the same direction: a one piece aluminum alloy upper frame to hold weight down, a 1.875 inch stainless barrel, and a black PVD cylinder that shrugs off sweat and pocket lint.

Smith & Wesson gave the 2.0 a center mounted cylinder release that works with either thumb, which is a rare courtesy for left hand shooters in a revolver this size. The rear sight is a machined U notch paired with an orange dot front, a far better sight picture than the trench and ramp older snub nose guns wore. It is double action only, so there is no hammer spur to catch on a shirt and no second trigger mode to think about under stress. Five rounds of 38 Special +P, a polymer boot grip that fills the hand without printing through cover, and a manual of arms simple enough to teach in an afternoon.
