Savage Axis XP 243 Win 20" 4rd 3-9x40 Scope Rifle

The Axis XP is a complete rifle package. Savage mounts and boresights a 3-9x40 scope at the factory, so the only things left are a box of ammunition and a final zero at the range. This one is chambered in 243 Win with a 20" threaded barrel. The barrel is button rifled and set with Savage's thread-in headspacing, which is the reason Axis rifles have a reputation for grouping well straight out of the box. The current bolt handle was reshaped and is easier to find and run with cold hands or a wet glove.

243 Win is a soft shooting cartridge that still takes deer cleanly, and it is one of the better first centerfire rifles to hand a new hunter. Recoil is light, ammunition is common, and the same rifle covers coyotes without a caliber change. A 20" barrel keeps the rifle short in a blind or across a truck seat, and the muzzle threads take a brake or a suppressor once the paperwork clears. A 4rd detachable box magazine feeds it, and the black synthetic stock carries molded grip texture with sling swivel studs already fitted. Nothing here needs replacing before opening day.
