About the Savage Axis 2 XP
The Axis 2 XP is Savage's package rifle: a bolt action and a mounted scope in one box, at a price that does not ask a hunter to build the setup a piece at a time. This one is chambered in 22-250 Remington and set up to hunt straight off the counter. The 3-9x40 scope is mounted and bore sighted at the factory, with fully multi coated lenses and tool less windage and elevation adjustments, so the first trip to the range is about confirming zero rather than starting from scratch.
The rifle underneath carries the AccuTrigger, which the owner can adjust without a trip to a gunsmith, and the stock has adjustable length of pull so it can be set for the person shooting it instead of the other way around. That stock is gray synthetic with added texturing and a contoured pistol grip with ambidextrous palm swells. Feeding comes from a detachable box magazine holding 4 rounds. The receiver is drilled and tapped, and the muzzle is threaded 1/2-28 for a brake or a suppressor, which is not a given at this end of the rack.
