The SAR9 Subcompact Gen 3 takes SAR USA's duty pistol down to carry size without changing what makes it work. Striker fired, polymer framed, with a forged steel slide riding a 3.3" barrel. The SAR9 was drawn up as a service pistol and has seen military and police adoption, so the subcompact inherits lockwork built for a high round count rather than a pocket gun scaled up to 9mm.

The slide comes cut for a micro red dot on the RMSc footprint and tritium night sights are installed from the start, two things that are usually upgrades rather than standard equipment on a carry gun this size. Two steel magazines come with it, a shorter flush fit and a longer one that gives most hands a full grip, and the pistol still takes the rest of the SAR9 magazine family including the 17 round option from the full size gun. That is the practical argument for buying into a platform instead of a single pistol: the magazines, the holsters, and the manual of arms carry over. The grip is slim enough to hide under a shirt and textured enough to hold onto, and the controls sit where anyone coming off a modern service pistol expects them.
