Ruger Super Redhawk Toklat 44 Mag 5.5" 6rd Stainless Revolver

This Toklat is a TALO distributor edition of the Super Redhawk, chambered in 44 Magnum with a 5.5" barrel and a six round cylinder. Ruger drew the big frame around heavy cartridges from the start. The extended frame carries more steel through the top strap and the barrel shank than a standard revolver frame does, and the cylinder is locked at three points instead of one, so the gun keeps shooting to the same place after a season of full power loads.

Stainless is the right material for a woods gun. Sweat, rain and a wet holster do very little to it, and the scratches that come from rock and pack straps can be scrubbed out rather than touched up. The Hogue grip is a peg mounted design, which means the whole grip is free to flex and soak up recoil instead of the frame hammering the hand. Barrel length is a trade worth understanding before buying: 5.5" gives up a little velocity to a 7.5" gun, but it hangs shorter under a coat and swings faster when a shot has to happen in a hurry. The top strap is machined for Ruger's scope ring system if the revolver ends up wearing glass, and the sights are adjustable for irons. Six rounds of 44 Magnum, black and stainless.
